With over 39 years of a unique blend of professional experience, leadership, vision and knowledge, Major General Ahmad bin Thani served as a security commander of airports, leading 11 organizational units with over 5000 employees; Heading the security process in one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.
Through his leadership, Dubai International Airport succeeded in obtaining the highest rank in the Security Assessment Audit conducted by ICAO (99.53%) in 2016.
Starting in 1981 as a pilot in Air wing center, and rose in the ranks to become a Major General –Assistant Commander for Seaports & Airports in 2014. His responsibilities included a pilot, trainer, international security auditor, certified PMC airport manager, a member of expo 2020 security committee, Head of Security and crises committee for Dubai Airshow, a member of higher security committee for civil ports and airports, Director of coordination committee for marine affairs in Dubai, along with supervising the largest marine ports in the region, in which he succeeded to apply global best practices such as marine radar and Nawras drone.
Major General Bin Thani has increased the organizational performance greatly, by introducing artificial intelligence technology through the establishment of Smart Police Center, Smart operations center, & introduction of (E-Lock-Initiative), in addition to the establishment of Dubai Civil Aviation Training Center. His oversight has led to a remarkable growth in staff development, greater employee satisfaction and happier passengers travelling experience.
In addition to his commitments, Major General Bin was involved jointly with Emirates Aviation College in the preparation of the Master Degree program material, along with writing his own book (diving has livelihood)
